Dental Inlays & Onlays
Preserve your smile while restoring your confidence and dental health!
Sometimes a tooth is too damaged to be fixed with a simple filling, but it isn’t damaged enough to need a crown. When this is the case, Dr. Chavez can restore the tooth with an inlay or onlay.
Inlays and onlays are sometimes called “partial crowns” or “indirect fillings”. They are designed in a dental laboratory with molds from your teeth. Then, they are permanently bonded to your damaged teeth during a dental appointment.
An inlay is used when it can fit within the small points or “cusps” of a premolar or molar tooth. An onlay is used when it can cover a larger area including one or more of the cusps.

Watch our videos below to see how inlay and onlay procedures are typically done.
This video shows you how an inlay can be used to restore a decayed or damaged tooth to its proper function.
In this video, an onlay rebuilds a tooth that has damage to one or more cusps and restores it to optimal shape and function.
